Stone monument by sculptor Joseph Nollekens "which stands against the west wall of the north aisle, commemorating Lieut.-General Bennett Noel (d. 1766), and consists of a round arched canopied recess in which is a female figure with extinguished torch leaning upon a large urn on which is carved a bust of the deceased. The arch is carried on fluted pilasters and has an armorial keystone and cherubs in the spandrels. The monument was erected in 1787 in conformity with the bequest of General Noel's widow, Elizabeth Adams (d. 1784), who is buried with her husband." Colonel of the 43rd Regiment of Foot;
who died on the 17th of September 1766 in the 51st year of his age.
He was 3rd son of the Honourable John Noel:
who was 4th son of Viscount Lord Campden
This monument is erected
in conformity to the bequest of his affectionate wife
Elizabeth Noel;
second daughter of Robert Adams esq,
formerly Governor of Tellicherry in the East Indies.
She died on the 7th of April 1784 aged 69;
and her remains are interred with her husband's in this church.
Mrs Margaretta Anna Adams, elder and only sister to Mrs Noel
caused this monument to be executed
