Lovell, OK is located about halfway between I-35 and Highway 81, between Crescent and Marshall on the north-south. A human migration monument is at this location, so it's appropriate to have a quote about the American Flag, which represented so much to the brave men and women who traveled to the area.

Quote:

The American Flag
Flag of the Sturdy Fathers
Flag of the Loyal Sons,
Beneath its Folds It Gathers
Earth's Blest and Noblest Ones.
Boldly We Wave Its Colors
our Veins are Thrilled Anew;
By the Steadfast Bars, the Clustered Stars,
The Red, the White and the Blue.

About Margaret E. Sangster, from wikipedia:

Margaret Elizabeth Sangster (pen name, Aunt Marjorie; February 22, 1838 – June 3, 1912) was an American poet, author, and editor. Her poetry was inspired by family and church themes, and included hymns and sacred texts. She worked in several fields including book reviewing, story writing, and verse making. For a quarter of a century, Sangster was known by the public as a writer, beginning as a writer of verse, and combining later the practical work of a critic and journalist. Much of her writing did not include her name.

Her literary productions were numerous, and she was a regular contributor to many of the leading periodicals.

Text on marker:

Pioneer family names on back

This memorial is graciously dedicated in honor of homesteaders and other pioneer settlers of this area. In recognition of their faith and courage to explore the unknown and to endure the Great Depression, two World Wars, droughts, and untold hardships, and in appreciation of the heritage of joy and thanksgiving they passed on to succeeding generations. Descendants of these pioneer families respectfully re-affirm our ancestors reverence for freedom, family, and commitment to democracy.

These early settlers were among thousands of recent descendants of many foreign countries and varying nationalities who migrated to this area of Oklahoma seeking a new way of life on untilled land.

Some of these settlers homesteaded their land after filing a claim following the run of 1889. Many acquired their farms or home sites at a later date, either by purchase or trade, living here with other homesteaders and pioneers to make a living and raise their families. Together they became the "Pioneer Families" of the Lovell community and the surrounding trade area by their commitment. The foundation for our modern society was built.

This memorial was made possible by descendants and friends of these pioneer settlers who suffered many hardships to develop the area for those who followed.
Address:
