On the east edge of the downtown area of Jones, a small community park is now the home of the old watering trough which used to serve the local farmers. The trough is constructed of concrete, about 5 x 8 feet, and 4 feet high, with a metal hand pump.

A bronze plaque at its base describes its history and use. It reads:

The old Watering Trough
During the Early 1900s, horse and
mule teams served as primary
transportation for farmers.

This trough, located at the original
site of Beatty Cotton Gin, 2nd &
Main, provided drinking water for
the draft animals.
