EN On June 14, 1944, a large contingent of German troops, accompanied by some servile militiamen, occupied Vinon-Sur-Verdon in order to locate and dismantle the Interallied Mission reported to the German forces as being temporarily installed in the vicinity of Vinon.
André Arbaud, in Vinon that day, was arrested by militiamen at the orders of the German military on the grounds that he was part of the local Resistance and was able to provide information on his relative Leopardo, who was supposed to be in charge of the network.
André Arbaud, 61 years old, was taken in a vehicle to be taken to Draguignan for interrogation. About two kilometres from Vinon, did he try to escape or was he forced to leave? His bullet-ridden body was discovered below the road by a doctor on his way around.

His sacrifice was not useless: neither the Interallied Mission nor the LEOPARDO group's resistance fighters were disturbed.

The plate indicates:
Here fell the patriot André Arbaud, cowardly murdered by the militiamen on June 14, 1944. He died for the freedom of the country. We will never forget it 1883 - 1944
