Reports came back to the UK of Rick's selfless acts of heroism assisting with the evacuation of many.
Giving his life in the process.
Rick is one of many "hero's" on that terrible day. A day which has been etched into all our minds.
The senseless loss of life through terrorism
The memorial was placed along the side walk overlooking the towns old harbour.
The the bronze bird on the memorial stone. I was not able to establish what breed of bird the sculptor or indeed the intent was to be "just a bird in flight", However, at the time of my visit I felt that the breed of the sculpted bird could have been. The Golden Eagle (Bird of America), A Chough (Bird of Cornwall) or A Dove ( A bird of peace). Either way it was very moving to visit the site and to further research one of the many, many brave selfless hero's who gave their own lives trying to save others, on that day.
