Clachnaben is a 589 metre (1932 feet) high hill in the eastern Grampian Mountains in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. It stands out from the surrounding heathery tops by virtue of the granite tor on its summit which makes it a landmark in the area.
The summit lies over two miles west of the B974 Cairn O'Mount road, the hill pass which lies five miles to the south where the summit of Clachnaben first comes into view. A car park at the roadside lies at the start of the walk to the summit where a well constructed path runs westwards, eventually rising up the hillside towards the tor.
The tor can be climbed by the lower western side via a mild scramble. The top of the tor is the highest point of the hill, rising above the summit area to the west where there is a trig pillar and lesser tor beyond.(Source)
