The life-size bronze sculpture "Die Kniende" (Kneeling) was created in 1962 and was erected in 1963 as part of the International Garden Exhibition in the Wallanlagen park. Later it was dismantled there and brought to its present location, the so-called Alster foreland. There it now stands at the beginning of the Alsterpark in a granite roundel.
