At the southern corner of the intersection of Boyd Street and the Monaro Highway, next to the Cenotaph, is the updated Playground. While retaining a few items of 'yesteryear', like the Swing Sets, Steel Slippery Slide, and Carousel, new brightly coloured, modular equipment has been recently added. As the weblink states, with the aid of 'convicts' - inmates of the Cooma Correctional Centre, a Climbing Frame, Rope Net, Artificial Rock Wall, Raised Stepping Stones, and Spring-loaded Motorbike and See Saw have been added in 2017. The 'older-style' Swing Sets do still meet regulations, and two have rubber sling seats, and there is a single rubber 'bucket-style' with a safety chain, suitable for a toddler. Kopper logs surround the wood-chipped area. While there are some lovely mature gum trees close by to provide shade, there is a nearby warning sign of the hazard of falling branches.
