In the 1930's Main Street in Mesa carried highways 60, 70, 80, and 89. Families making the transition to jobs and opportunities in the southwest would pass through Mesa on their way to the golden opportunities of California. Walter's Rock Cabins Motel provided air conditioning and hot showers to weary travellers who had spent several days far from such comforts. Today nothing remains of the cabins. A mobile home park covers part of the property. None of the charm remains.
