This is a beautifully maintained Church, just off of the Snowy Mountains Highway as it runs through the small village of Bemboka.
While there had been a Catholic 'presence' in Bemboka going back to baptismal records of 1864, the locals had to travel to Lyttleton from 1875 to 1904, until plans were made in 1905 for this church to be built. (
visit link) At the centenary celebration in January 2008, a book was published on the history of the Catholic Church in this area: "A Journey in Faith - St Colomba's Church. A Century of Catholic Life in Bemboka".
Sadly, the only regular meeting time is the Vigil Mass, at 6pm, on Saturdays.
