This obelisk stands about twelve feet tall, with the detail common to many zinc monuments throughout. Funeral draping hangs from near the top of the shaft, above a set of clasped hands and "Farewell", with the family name, "Haley", on the front plinth. The main panel reads:
Robert Haley,
---
Born July 24, 1859,
Died Dec'r 2, 1883.
-----
Side two depicts a psychopomp on the shaft below the funeral draping, with "Gone from our home but not from our hearts". The panel features a different type of draping, with "Not dead, but gone before."
Side three has a broken chain below the funeral draping, with "We will meet again." The panel has a figure holding a book, arm upraised, and it reads:
Oh! For the touch
of a
vanished hand,
And the sound
of a
voice that is still.
----
Side four features a wreath of roses below the funeral draping, with "Gone, but still remembered." The panel has a figure holding onto an anchor, a symbol of hope, with "How desolate our home bereft of thee."
