Red Dirt Art Gallery and Studio has taken occupancy of the vintage service station building at the corner of 2nd and Cedar. We originally Waymarked this vintage gas station in 2014, and were so surprised to visit again and see it occupied and beautifully covered with Bob Palmer murals.
Bob Palmer started Red Dirt Art Gallery and Studio as an artists' cooperative where local artists can work on their treasures, and have an opportunity to sell them. Each artist who is accepted into the cooperative is given a key to the place and works at their convenience. The creations include pottery, paintings, and fiber arts. Everything on display is for sale. The gallery has a work table for children, too, where accompanied by an adult, they can work on art projects, with items supplied.

The sad thing we learned in our searches online is that Bob Palmer will be leaving this location in the summer of 2019. He has been offered an opportunity in the Capital Hill district of Oklahoma City, where he intends to set up a similar operation. But if you are visiting after that time, it's still worth the trip to see the murals that adorn the building.
