This small bronze plaque in honor of the USS NASHVILLE (CL 43), the second US Navy ship to bear that name, is also the first US Cruiser to enter the Yangtze River after World War II.
However, the USS NASHVILLE (CL 43) may be more famous for a particular high ranking passenger, General Douglas MacArthur, who disembarked from the USS NASHVILLE in the Philippines, where he declared, "People of the Philippines: I have returned. The hour of your redemption is here."
