[FR] Chasnais est une commune du Centre-Ouest de la France, située dans le département de la Vendée, en région Pays de la Loire, à proximité de Luçon. Le territoire municipal de Chasnais s’étend sur 1 086 hectares. L’altitude moyenne de la commune est de 7 mètres, avec des niveaux fluctuant entre 0 et 30 mètres. Ce nom est issu du gaulois cassanos signifiant chêne.

C'est au centre de ce village que vous trouverez l'église Saint Pierre.

Description architecturale :

Plan longitudinal.
Clocher porche à flèche de charpente couvert en ardoises et muni d’abat-son.
La nef, couverte en tuiles, comporte trois travées.
Le chœur est légèrement plus élevé que la nef ; il s’achève par un chevet plat.

Principales étapes de construction :

Le chœur a été construit au XIVe siècle.
La nef, le clocher et les stalles du chœur datent du XIXe siècle.

Histoire et dates importantes :

Jusqu'en 1317, l'église dépendait de l'abbé de Luçon.

The average altitude of the municipality is 7 meters, with levels fluctuating between 0 and 30 meters. This name comes from the Gaulish cassanos meaning oak.
