Marker text:

FORD ROAD
The victorious Union troops of the action at Leetown moved over this road to join the fighting at Elkhorn Tavern

Road very straight, amazingly, runs from town of Pea Ridge to Telegraph Road near Elkhorn Tavern.
Union Cavalry used Ford Road to race west and engage the Confederate flank.

"IV   C. Ford Road

"Several historic roads used in the course of the battle are still visible in the Park. The Ford road runs east and west along the southern base of Pea Ridge and connects at its eastern terminus with the Telegraph Road. ... Both the Ford and Huntsville roads appear today as primitive, two-rut road traces, rocky in places." " ~ NRHP Nomination Form
