A 6' high granite monument honors the men who were killed when a Nike missile exploded at a former Nike missile base near Fort Handcock on Sandy Hook. The monument is flanked by a pair of models of a Nike missile and is inscribed:

The monument is located in Gateway National Recreation Area, which is open sunrise to sunset. There are no entrance fees for Gateway National Recreation Area but there is a charge for beach parking from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day.
