Long Description:

A 30' high granite monument with a cylindrical shaft and an octagonal base has a bronze sculpture of an eagle with wings outspread on top and the life-size figures of a Union artillery soldier and an infantry soldier on the base. The monument is dedicated to four units from Connecticut that served during the Civil War.

The south side of the shaft contains a dado with the dedication. It is inscribed:

On the octagonal base are four bronze plaques, one for each of the units being honored.
