The lychgate has a tiled roof on a wooden lined and framed structure, supported by four brown-brick pillars. It is broad and long enough that a single car could park beneath it. It has two fairly plain iron gates that could be closed - but were open when I past on the Saturday. On the right-hand (northern) brick pillar is a grey granite tablet, with the following inscription:
To the Glory of God
and in memory of
Our Pioneer Churchmen
15-7-34.
From the Monuments Australia website is the following excerpt, from the 'Sydney Mail (NSW), of 29 August, 1934:
"In a recess in the gate is a casket containing a parchment roll bearing the names of pioneers of the Bega district, to whose memory the gate was recently dedicated by the Anglican Bishop of Goulburn (the Right Rev. E. H. Burgmann)." ex-
