The monument
Form and material
The war memorial in Laren (municipality of Lochem) is a column of brickwork, interrupted by white natural stone bands and topped by a white natural stone memorial stone. This memorial stone is crowned by a bronze bowl from which stylized flames rise. There is a text on the memorial stone.

In 2012 the monument was overthrown and damaged by unknown perpetrator. The monument was then erected again. The monument was damaged again in November 2015. The copper bowl and copper flame were removed from the monument. A new bowl and flame were installed on 20 April 2016.
