Often when visiting fire stations, we see a painted sign of Smokey Bear reminding folks about fire safety, and often giving that day's fire hazard information. We were pleasantly surprised when visiting the Choctaw station #1 at 14181 N.E. 23rd Street, to find Smokey standing there in real life.

This is a life-sized chain saw carving. At the bottom of the carving, "STATION #1" is carved. He is standing straight and tall with trousers on, and a real shovel held in his right hand. On his head is a firefighting helmet, with a real metal badge from the Choctaw Fire Department attached to the helmet.
