A 61-year-old man died Wednesday afternoon after a moped scooter he was driving was hit by a vehicle in Edmond, police said.
Around 1 p.m., James Thompson was driving west on Edmond Road near Fretz Avenue when he was hit by a truck that also was driving west, according to police. Thompson was taken to an area hospital and was pronounced dead at 1:35 p.m.
The driver who hit Thompson's moped has been identified as 30-year-old Juan Cruces-Landeros. He was arrested on complaints of causing an accident without a valid driver's license which resulted in a death and driving without a valid driver's license.
Police said Thompson was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
