From the whatpub website:-
"16th century free-house at the northern end of this rural village which was formerly a large mining community. There is evidence that a pub existed on this site during the 14th century with its important position next to a bridleway.

The traditional bar at the front of the premises has faced brickwork walls and a quarry-tiled floor. The room is dominated by a pool table.

Via a corridor the large lounge area at the rear is part carpeted and part timber floor boarded. This comfortable room has a wood burning stove. Witty conversation and banter is a common feature amongst the locals who make strangers welcome.

Down steps from the lounge is large conservatory with beautiful views. This room can be hired for private functions.

Extensive outdoor drinking areas at the front of the pub include a grassed children's area with play equipment adjacent to the carpark. There are benches with umbrellas in a patio area near the entrance of the pub. At the rear of the pub be sure to visit the large elevated decking area with bench seating. This area affords fantastic views over the south Shropshire countryside with the Clee Hills in the distance.

During the late August bank holiday weekend the pub hosts the very popular "Chelfest" - a festival of live local bands and discos

In the summer months 2 changing guest beers are available.

Opening hours may vary depending on how busy the pub is."
