A water tower in a park is possibly not common, but a water tower in a park can certainly be economical.

The town (and other nearby towns) was settled by the Mormons in 1900, so this park is quite likely nearly as old as the town. Occupying about 3/4 of a city block, the park has quite a few amenities. One item in the park that we wouldn't really categorize as an amenity is this water tower. Toward the north edge of the park stands the town's water tower, a fairly new structure of contemporary design.

We suspect that economy could have dictated the location of the tower - since the town already had the land and the tower has a pretty small footprint, why not save the cost of purchasing land for a water tower and just put it in the park? So, that's where it stands.

The 200,000 gallon water tower was built in 1980 and the town is now looking at replacing it with a taller 500,000 gallon tower, a $4.6 million project. The town had hoped to begin construction in the spring of 2018.
