According to Mr. Hunt's
Findagrave page, he committed suicide. To add to the tragedy, his second wife,
Robbie Lee, had been killed some years earlier in a bizarre accident with a chainsaw when she was helping Mr. Hunt cut and collect wood.
Atop his headstone is an open book, either a Bible or the Book of Life, and the family name, "Hunt", is on the plinth. Below the Woodmen of the World emblem is this inscription:
