River gauge Mauthaus
The drinking water dam Mauthaus - also called Ködeltalsperre - is a dam in Bavaria, which was built from 1968 to 1972 at Kronach for drinking water supply. As a secondary purpose it serves the flood protection, the low water increase and the power generation from hydropower. It was put into operation in 1975 and was the first Bavarian drinking water dam.
The dam is a rockfill dam with clay core inner seal with bilateral transition zones and was founded on rock. The dam has a longitudinal control tunnel, a sealing veil and on the water and air side each a berm.
The water is taken from a sampling tower. As spillway relief serves an overflow with two weir valves on the left slope with a trough over the mountain ridge.
