This is lock Accolay on the Canal d'Accolay. It is the farthest east of only two locks on this canal.
It is situated to the east of the village of Accolay. It is operated by a lock keeper and is 38.5 metres long by 5.05 metres wide.
The canal was opened in 1880 and provided a link from Vermenton to the Canal du Nivernais at Bazarnes. The Canal du Nivernais was opened in 1842 and linked the Loire to the Seine via the navigable River Yonne at the Seine end.
The canal is very short compared with most canals as it is only 3.8 kilometres in length.
