The Hem Heath is a Hungry Horse pub located in Trentham on land that was the site of the Hem Heath Colliery.

The pillory pub sign depicts a mole emerging from the ground wearing a miners a pit helmet and holding a pickaxe. The pub name is written at the bottom of the sign in white lettering. A fitting memory for the mining carried out at this location.

The Hem Heath is a large, modern, new-build pub on the edge of the Trentham Lakes Industrial Park. It was opened in April 2012 by Greene King as a Hungry Horse operation, the vast majority of the pub is dedicated to the food trade. Named after the famous local colliery, the history of the site can be found adorning the walls, and there is a cinema screen to the far left of the pub showing a variety of films.

"Hem Heath was the first Greene King newly built Hungry Horse pub located in Trentham at the top of Stanley Matthews Way on the land where Hem Heath Colliery used to stand, hence the pub name.
The pub has smart furnishings, a vibrant decor and two feature walls of the old colliery.
The pub serve food daily and have a relaxed environment that is inviting to families. There is an over 18's bar area with a pool table and where Sky Sports is screened. There is a small beer garden located at the front of the pub where dogs are allowed on leads and a large car park." (visit link)

Hem Heath Colliery
The first sod was cut in a ceremony on 30th July 1924, presided over by the Duke of Sutherland for the Stafford Coal & Iron Co. Ltd. The colliery closed in 1993.
