While the gnomon points to South (as expected), the arched shaped of the bronze plate is directed to the northwest. At the southeast side is a rectangular plate embedded in the concrete pillar, which reads:
*Advice to Readers*
1. Time recorded by shadow is local sun time.
2. Shadow moves in anti=clockwise direction.
3. To convert local sun time to Eastern Standard Time refer to Correction Table.
4. To convert to Summer Time, add one hour.
On the north side of the gnomon is the Correction Table, with various dates of the months, and the amount of minutes to be added or subtracted. For example, for 26th December, you would subtract 2 minutes, while on the 29th December, there is no need to add or subtract any minutes! [Just the need to add ONE HOUR for Daylight Saving!]
On a seperate and adjacent concrete pillar (rectangular) is a bronze plaque for the erection of the sundial, by the Milton Ulladulla & District Historical Society, in celebration of Australia's Bicentenary - 1988.
