"From the early Middle Ages, a fortress defended the passage of the Somme in this place.The castle played a significant role during the Hundred Years War: Edward III was held there in 1346 before the Battle of Crécy. V, the English besieged Abbeville found refuge there, but were immediately driven out by Guy de Luxembourg-Saint-Pol.
The castle was rebuilt after 1421 and retained its role as a stronghold during the Wars of Religion. In the sixteenth century, Queen Eleonore and the Dauphin lived there in 1531, Henry II in 1549. Mary Stuart made its last stop in France, in 1561 and Henry IV passed there in 1594. In the seventeenth century, Richelieu lay there in 1638 but the fire having taken possession of the powder magazine of the garrison, he had to flee at night, on a boat. During the Spanish invasions, the house was burned down and the castle lost its role as a stronghold after the Peace of the Pyrenees of 1659.
At the beginning of the nineteenth century the castle was rebuilt in neo-Gothic style by the Count of Maisniel de Liercourt. Victor Hugo made a drawing in 1837.
In 1955, the castle which was the property of the Countess de Coux, was sold and sold to owners who left it abandoned.
On the night of August 13-14, 2012, a criminal fire destroyed roofs, stairs and floors. The town of Pont-Remy bought the estate in 2015.
From the Middle Ages, the castle has only kept a large round tower crowned with a machicolated walkway with two vaulted octagonal rooms. The Neo-Gothic main building stands on three levels framed by two octagonal towers.
The town of Pont-Remy is working to consolidate and secure the ruins and enhance the park of 3 ha. The landscape architects Delphine Miguet and François Marié are working on this project. "

" Dès le haut Moyen Age, une forteresse défendait le passage de la Somme à cet endroit. Le château joua un rôle non négligeable pendant la Guerre de Cent ans : Édouard III y fut tenu en échec en 1346 avant la Bataille de Crécy. Sous Charles V, les Anglais boutés hors d'Abbeville y trouvèrent refuge, mais ils en furent chassés aussitôt par Guy de Luxembourg-Saint-Pol.
Le château fut reconstruit après 1421 et conserva son rôle de place forte pendant les Guerres de religion. Au XVIe siècle, la reine Éléonore et le dauphin y logèrent en 1531, Henri II en 1549. Marie Stuart y fit sa dernière étape en France, en 1561 et Henri IV y passa en 1594. Au XVIIe siècle, Richelieu y coucha en 1638 mais le feu ayant pris dans le magasin à poudre de la garnison, il dut fuir de nuit, sur une barque. Au cours des invasions espagnoles, le logis fut incendié et le château perdit son rôle de place forte après la Paix des Pyrénées de 1659.
C'est au début du XIXe siècle que le château fut reconstruit en style néogothique par le comte du Maisniel de Liercourt. Victor Hugo en fit un dessin en 1837.
En 1955, le château qui était la propriété de la comtesse de Coux, fut vendu puis revendu à des propriétaires qui le laissèrent à l’abandon.
Dans la nuit du 13 au 14 août 2012, un incendie d'origine criminelle détruisit les toitures, les escaliers et les planchers. La commune de Pont-Remy racheta le domaine en 2015.
Du Moyen Age, le château n'a gardé qu'une grosse tour ronde couronnée d'un chemin de ronde à mâchicoulis avec deux salles octogonales voûtées. Le corps de logis de style néogothique s'élève sur trois niveaux encadrés par deux tours octogonales.
La commune de Pont-Remy s'emploie à consolider et à sécuriser les ruines et à mettre en valeur le parc de 3 ha. Les architectes paysagistes Delphine Miguet et François Marié travaillent sur ce projet. "
