Dedicated May 27, 2002, the engraved bricks located at the Washington County Veterans Memorial Plaza honor more than 2,000 veterans of Washington County serving in all wars. The memorial is a lasting tribute to the men and women of Washington County, Texas who have worn the uniforms of the United States military.
The bricks are orgnized in 8 separate segments (labeled "A" though "H"). Each is flanked on either side by posts representing military branches or organizations who assisted with the establishment of the monument and all of its associated 2,000+ donated engraved bricks. These include:

(2) Army National Guard
(3) Coast Guard
(4) Air Force
(5) Army
(6) Navy
(7) Marines
(8) Merchant Marines
(9) Disabled American Veterans
