La construction de la Cathédrale a été terminée en 1950. L'architecte était Edgar Courchesne. Les vitraux ont été conçus par E. Reault et Fils.

Le cardinal Paul-Émile Léger fut curé de cette paroisse, en 1975-1976, après avoir pris sa retraite comme archevêque de Montréal. En 1982, la cathédrale Saint-Maron de Montréal s’y établit, partageant le lieu de culte avec l’occupante initiale de l’endroit. Vieille de plus d’un millénaire, l’Église maronite fait partie des cinq grandes familles de rite oriental au sein de l'Église catholique et rassemble près de six millions de personnes de par le monde. Bishop Paul-Émile Léger was the priest of this parish in 1975-1976, after retiring as Montreal archbishop. In 1982, Cathedral Saint-Maron of Montréal settled here, sharing the church with the original incumbent. More than one millenium old, the Maronite church is part of the five families of Eastern churches being part of the Catholic Church. There are over six millions Maronites in the world.
The masses are celebrated in Syriac, mixed with several arab words. The current eparch is Paul Marwan Tabet, MLM.
