This 64 pounder cannon is beside Parramatta Road/Great Western Highway.

This RML 64 pounder cannon, is in a narrow park between the Great Western Highway and Mays Hill Cemetery. Built in 1871 by Armstrong, it has a 178 mm calibre (7"), and able to fire a 29 kg (64 lb, or pound) projectile some 3,600 metres - just over 2 miles. It was originally mounted at Fort Macquarie [ex-website below] The Serial Number is: 610. And stamped on the barrel, below an arrow pointing to the muzzle, is: 70-2-0
