"L’emplacement de ce bâtiment était jadis occupé par le béguinage « delle tour », fondé au XIVe siècle et supprimé en 1642. L’abbé Guillaume Bonvoisin élève ensuite vers 1760 l’ancien refuge de l’abbaye de Malonne, qui devint au début du XIXe siècle le palais épiscopal. Il est agrandi par Monseigneur Pisani de la Gaude d’une aile pour le secrétariat, d’un grand salon et de diverses dépendances. Par la suite, Monseigneur Dehesselle fait remplacer la chapelle en 1858 et une nouvelle extension du secrétariat est opérée au XXe siècle.

Cette bâtisse est précédée d’une cour pavée et clôturée à rue par un haut mur. Il s’agit d’un très bel hôtel Louis XV de plan en U, prolongé par des dépendances néoclassiques. Le corps principal est axé par une avancée accusée de pilastres à refends et comprenant trois travées sous un fronton courbe. Celui-ci expose la devise « Benevole et fortiter » et les armes de l’abbé Bonvoisin.

La porte principale en plein cintre mouluré, à clé et impostes saillantes, ainsi que la traverse chantournée et la baie d’imposte à petits-bois sont d’origine. La porte-fenêtre de l’étage est de même type. Dans l’aile droite, donnant sur la rue, une partie de bâtiment plus ancien est incorporée à l’ensemble."

"The site of this building was once occupied by the beguinage "delle tour", founded in the 14th century and abolished in 1642. The main door in a molded round arch, with key and projecting transoms, as well as the fretworked crossbar and the transom bay with small woods are original. The French window on the first floor is of the same type. In the right wing, facing the street, an older part of the building is incorporated into the complex."
