The Church traces its roots to 1859 when a group met to decide on a location for a house of worship.
The cornerstone was laid in 1861, and work finally completed in 1864. The original location was a nearby Bellevue Avenue.
In 1885 the church building was moved from Bellevue Avenue to its current location. The baptism pool was installed at this time.
Since then the church has seen additions and renovations, most notably in 1908, again in 1945/6 and once more in 1959.
The church is still very active. There are services Sundays and Wednesdays, and a Sunday School.
