Unusual rain brought a super bloom to Southern California. Walker Canyon in Lake Elsinore is in the heart of the wild California poppy super bloom that lead officials to close parts of the interstate on St. Patricks Day (when I took these photos).

For the preservation of this locality, collection or picking is prohibited. When I visited, there were countless temporary signs along the inter stating stating no parking. However, thousands of cars littered the emergency lane as a parking lot and people illegally hopped over barbed wire fences that stated "state property, no trespassing". There were shuttles you could take, offered by the City of Lake Elsinore, which were $5 roundtrip from the nearby Outlets. No picking, no trampling or going off trail, and obeying posted signs are a must, yet thousands of people didn't do so which lead to a shut down hours after I visited. I did see one cop giving tickets to those who did not abide by the law.

Taken from Wikipedia, "Walker Canyon is a canyon in the Temescal Mountains, in Riverside County, California. It lies divides Alberhill Summit, on the west and the balance of the range to its east. Temescal Creek flows northward through the canyon from where it heads at 33°42'33?N 117°21'43?W in Warm Springs Valley into the upper reach of the Temescal Valley near Alberhill, California. Coming from the Temescal Mountains to the east, Gavilan Wash has its confluence with Walker Canyon near mid way along its length, and Alberhill Canyon has its confluence with Walker Canyon at its mouth.

Near Lake Elsinore, California, I-15 passes between Temescal Valley and Warm Springs Valley through Walker Canyon on the east side of Temescal Creek."
