Le château des Comtes se trouve sur la ville de Namur, capitale Wallonne, plus précisément au cœur des fortifications de la somptueuse Citadelle de Vauban construite au XVIIème siècle.
Placé dans un cadre historique unique, sur un éperon rocheux dominant la cité, le château des Comtes est en fait une forteresse du XIème siècle qui abritait depuis sa création les Seigneurs du Namurois.
Il faut dire que la période du Moyen-Age fut particulièrement mouvementée. La ville et son château furent plusieurs fois assiégés, ce qui nécessita au XVIIème siècle, la création de fortifications supplémentaires : la Citadelle de Vauban était née !

Het moet gezegd worden dat de Middeleeuwen een bijzonder turbulente periode waren. De stad en haar kasteel werden meerdere malen belegerd, waardoor in de 17e eeuw extra vestingwerken nodig waren: de Citadel van Vauban was geboren!
