The bank was the only financial institution for the coastal communities of south Collier County from 1926 until 1962. The bank was the primary lender for boats which remained the'dominant tool of commerce and transportation during the historic period. The bank was constructed in a Neo-Classical Style, one of two municipal buildings in the town built in this style, and is one of the few historic buildings remaining in the small, remote community.
