The Nimmitabel Cenotaph lies near the turn-off to the local camping area, on the corner of Boyd Street, and the Monaro Highway. Near the Aleppo pine memorial is a smallangled concrete plinth with a bronze plaque for Warrant Officer Haigh (1950-2003). The plaque reads:
[The Australian Army crest]
In Memory of
WO1 ANTHONY REGINALD HAIGH
Beloved Sob, Father, Brother, Uncle
13/7/50 - 24/1/03
"Like a Tiger"
As a nearby Historical Marker proudly proclaims, Nimmitabel is the place where E. A. Corey joined the 'Snowy March' recruitment drive in World War One. And he went on to become the only man in the Commonwealth to have been awarded the Military Medal not once, twice, or three times, but FOUR times.
