The two-piece sculpture entitled "The Last Chapter" was created by sculptor A.K. Lamar in 1998. It is a bronze piece located outside the entrance to the library.

The mother is dressed in a dress, and is holding a book in her hand (presumably at the last chapter). She is sitting on a large concrete cube engraved LIBRARY, and is leaning back on her left hand. A young boy in a baseball cap is in the process of climbing up onto the brick retaining wall around the garden. He is holding out a weed or flower to his mom. On the side of the cube, a bronze plaque reads:
