Long Description:
Site Location: On Portland Harbor in South Portland at the end of a 900 ft. breakwater.
Directions to this site: Portland, ME - Take ME-77 south, east on Broadway, right on Benjamin Pickett St., left on Fort Rd. to end to parking area at Fort Preble. Also take tour boat out of Portland.
Nearest City/Town: So. Portland, ME
Purpose:: Marks the dangerous ledge on the west side of the entrance to Portland Harbor.

Site established: 1896 by Grover Cleveland.
Built: 1897

Tower: 54 ft Sparkplug
Tower Material: Cast Iron on Brick - White
Keeper's Quarters: 2-Story Within the Tower
Oil Room: 240 gallon tank of kerosene in basement of the tower until electrified in 1934.
Fog Bell: Hung on the side of the tower struck twice every 12 seconds.
Fog Signal Blast Every 10 Seconds.
Lens: 5º Fresnel Lens 1934 - 300 mm Optic.
