The solitary grave of Commander Allan Bertram, Esq. of the British Royal Navy, who died of a fever, is located on Great Stirrup Cay, one of the Berry Islands of the Bahamas.

Great Stirrup Cay has a long and colorful history. It was a pirate hangout, a military installation, used for blockade running ships during the Civil War, and most recently developed by Norwegian Cruise Lines as a destination port. On the island is a single grave for Commander Allan Bertram, Esq. as the island has been developed the grave has been moved at least once to it's present location.
The grave consists of a ledger stone with an inscription written on a limestone rock. To preserve the text of the inscription Norwegian Cruise Lines has transcribed the text onto an adjacent bronze plaque.
