"The Jambes station was commissioned on 5 February 1862 by the Compagnie du Nord - Belge, when it opened the Namur section in Dinant for operation. In 1864 Jambes was the first station on the line that joined the border and Givet in France. It serves the municipality of Jambes, which has 2,657 inhabitants, 3 kilometres from Namur and 47 km from Givet. Daily, there were four trains to Dinant and three to Givet, the journey time between Namur and Givet was about 1h20.

On June 26, 1889, the name of the station was changed to Jambes (Nord). Its spelling was changed, on January 10, 1916, to North Legs, which became North Legs in the 1970s.

At the end of the 1980s, important work was carried out to modernise and electrify the line. The old passenger building was destroyed in 1989 to make way for a new building designed to improve the reception, comfort and information of customers. Inaugurated in June 1989 by Jean-Luc Dehaene, Minister of Communications, the new Jambes-Nord station, which also has several car parks, is designed to attract new "commuters" in order to reduce car use and relieve traffic congestion on the roads to the centre of Namur and Brussels."
