Mrs. Selman is buried with her husband in historic Fincastle Cemetery, one of the few remains of the town of Fincastle, TX, in rural Henderson County. They share a modern, gray granite headstone, with a scroll with the family name, "Selman", at the top, complemented by roses in the upper corners. A pair of hands in prayer is superimposed atop a cross upon a rose-trimmed medallion between their respective Books of Life, with a ribbon noting their marriage on October 10, 1920. The books read:

Richard E. Sr.
Nov. 5, 1900
May 2, 1983

Nettie Lou
Sept. 23, 1900
Dec. 7, 2002

Significant events that occurred in her lifetime include:

1900 - William McKinley is re-elected president of the United States, but he won't survive his term.
1910 - Samuel L. Clemens - "Mark Twain" - goes out with Halley's Comet, which also appeared the year he was born.
1920 - The 1st World Scout Jamboree takes place in London.
1930 - Hostess Twinkies are invented.
1940 - Thanks to World War II, there will be no Summer Olympics this year.
1950 - The first use of a charge card, a Diner's Club card, takes place in New York.
1960 - Cassius Clay wins his first boxing match. Keep your eye on this guy, he's good.
1970 - American Motors introduces their Gremlin. Let the jokes begin.
1980 - Mt. St Helens erupts in Washington State.
1990 - The interior of the Leaning Tower of Pisa is closed to the public, putting a dent in my 2000 visit.
2000 - Microsoft is ruled to have violated United States antitrust laws, but they're still with us, intact.
2002 - Switzerland finally joins the United Nations.
