De lindeboom. Dat de lindeboom op de Berg geplant zou zijn bij het 25-jarig jubileum van pastoor Cuypers in 1632 lijkt erg onwaarschijnlijk. Toch is hij met zijn 350 à 400 jaar wel de oudste zomerlinde van ons land en met een stamomvang van 6,5 meter ook de dikste. In vroeger tijd werd onder zulke bomen wel recht gesproken; vandaar de benaming “Gerechtslinde”. Hij was circa 23 meter hoog, maar op 28 december 1994 werd de boom op 4 meter hoogte afgezaagd, omdat hij was aangetast door de Echte tonderzwam. Wat nu rest is een “prieellinde”. Een deel van de stam staat in de hal van ´t Klooster. In 1994 heeft drs. H.J.A.M. Terwisse, burgemeester van Nuenen, bij gelegenheid van zijn 12,5-jarig ambtsjubileum in de nabijheid van de oude lindeboom een Koningslinde geplant “ter toekomstige vervanging van de huidige Gerechtslinde”. De burgemeester heeft de boom “Gerechtigheidslinde” genoemd: een symbool van een onafhankelijke gemeente Nuenen. Deze boom vormt nu het middelpunt van het Prullekshof.
English abstract:
It would seem very unlikely that the lime tree was planted at the 25th anniversary of Father Cuypers in 1632. Yet with its 350 to 400 years it is the oldest summer lime tree in the country and with a trunk size of 6.5 meters it is also the thickest. In the old days justice was done under such trees; hence the name "Gerechtslinde". It was approximately 23 meters high, but on December 28, 1994, the tree was sawed off at 4 meters height, because it was attacked by the Real Tinder mushroom. What now remains is a "gazebo".
