When the town of Weatherford was first incorporated in 1898, a newspaper called the Weatherford Democrat was established. It was purchased in 1929 by James Craddock and renamed the Weatherford Daily News. To expand the paper to a daily, he enlisted the help of Kenneth Reid who purchased the paper in 1972. It is currently owned by Kenneth's son, Phillip and his wife Jeanne Ann Reid who purchased the paper in 1994. Under the name Reid Newspapers, they own this paper as well as six other Oklahoma papers. This is a five-day daily, with a circulation of 6500. They have online and paper subscriptions available. [excerpts from Wikipedia]

They are housed in a beautiful one-story brick building which has a recessed porch accessed by five arched brick openings. The center opening contains a glass entrance. Above the entrance is a stained glass fan transom which reads: "Weatherford News / est. 1900". On the upper wall, brick corbeling defines four bays, each with a stone panel. Large letters read "N-E-W-S".
