Located in Rose Hill Cemetery, J.P. Holmes' headstone is a traditional Woodmen of the World tree stump. With the seal at the top, and crossed implements beneath, the scroll hangs by a rope. An engraved granite dove sits on top of the scroll.

The inscription reads:

Jan. 9, 1865
Died
Dec. 2, 1908

Earth has lost a soul
And heaven has gained an
angel

Kind of dove: Dove without olive branch, but with some clear connection to concepts of peace
