"Quintessential village inn with a big reputation, a community hub for the village and welcoming to visitors. Its name derives from the buildings original use as a tallow candle maker's business. The beer garden overlooks the Village Green from a high vantage point. Microbrewery beers are always on the bar, often locally sourced, including a stout or porter. Good food is available but the owners see it as primarily a drinker's pub."

The pun originally was not an Inn but a candle makers business, hence the name. Some 30 were employed in making the tallow candles of the time. The "Chandlers" is built of the local Shearsby brick.
