This depiction of a World War I soldier stands proud in front of the former Hensall Town Hall (now public library). Construction of the building was completed in 1914, the start of WWI. A later addition includes names of soldiers from WWII.

The monument has a life-size soldier with his rifle standing high above a base that has inscribed on it the names of people from the Hensall area who gave their lives in WWI and WWII.

It is obvious that this was originally built as a dedication to WWI but on the west side of the four-sided base, there are several names of those who fought and died in WWII.

It is located in the very centre of the village. Originally, the constructed in front of town hall, the spot is still busy as the location of the public library.
