The coat of arms of Lanzarote was approved by Decree 2217/64 of 9 July (BOE of 29 July 1964). Of gules, two gold cauldrons. Edging of gules with twelve gold cauldrons. At the bell, marquisal crown. In the text of the Decree creating the shield, the boilers are blazoned as "gold jaquelados and sabre", although they have always been used gold. It represents the arms of the Herrera lineage, one of whose branches was held by the lordship and later marquisate of Lanzarote, as indicated in the crown.
