[FR]En 1851, Eugène Charlot, industriel, maire et conseiller général fait construire à ses frais l’église de Moussey après avoir tenté d’obtenir une aide de la préfecture. À cette époque-là, l’église du village était devenue trop petite pour accueillir les fidèles. La population est en effet passée de 700 en 1830 à près de 1500 en 1850. Cette église fut consacrée par l’évêque de Saint-Dié, monseigneur Caverot, le 17 août 1852.
[EN]In 1851, Eugene Chaplin, industrialist, mayor and general councillor had the Church of mossy built at his expense after attempting to obtain assistance from the prefecture. At that time, the village church had become too small to accommodate the faithful. The population has indeed risen from 700 in 1830 to almost 1500 in 1850. This church was consecrated by the Bishop of Saint-die, Monsignor Caverot, on August 17, 1852.
